Kristy’s Failed Career Options Part 1

Ok I know I haven’t been posting to this blog much and for that, family (I assume only my family reads this), I’m sorry. But I have good reason! I have been working on a web comic about my life! It will most likely feature many of you! Check it out! QLCrises.tumblr.com . This week (Monday through Friday) I will be posting a comic a day and after that one a week. You should read it! It is about how I am going through a quarter life crisis! Super fun! My friend Miguel designed the site and it is great. I will post some real things later today.

On Sunday Josh and I went to see Wild Flag at Webster Hall. I haven’t really listened to them much but Carrie Brownstein is pretty much my hero and Sleater Kinney was so influential to my adolescence that I couldn’t really pass it up. We got into the VIP section and we standing like 3 feet from Fred Armison! I made eye contact with him but he seemed kind of vibey. Anyway, the show was amazing because Carrie is a total baller. At one point she was standing on Janet Weiss’s bass drum while playing _ in heels_ (photo cred Josh). So good. After the show she came into the VIP section and smiled at me. It was the best.

Spotted this incredible old-school dating site attempt at the Atlantic NDR platform. Way to keep it real buddy.

In other news, I went to the Gotham comedy club with my coworker April last week for amateur comedy night, and Jim Gaffigan randomly showed up to perform! It was pretty exciting and he was really funny. Just when you think you’ve had enough of NYC she throws something like this at you.

So I know I haven’t updated this in a while but that’s because I’ve been working on my webcomic which will be up soon! Also, life hasn’t been that exciting the past couple of weeks. I did find this Mexican food place that is pretty good even though all the food is cooked by hipsters. It’s also the only place in NYC I’ve found that composts!

Breaking update

I sit here listening to my coworkers argue about whether we should join an architecture design competition. One of them finds one hosted by a museum in Afghanistan and suggests designing a building that looks like it is exploding. He says the prize is probably a bucket of sand. Oh privileged white males; why are you given so much authority? What could I have done differently in my life so as not to end up here?

We spent St. Patty’s day barhopping in Greenpoint. Definitely feeling the urge to move to North Brooklyn. I seem to be spending all my time there anyway and taking the G late at night sucks.

On Friday after work Josh and I braved the green line to the Upper East Side to the opening of the David Lynch exhibition. However, after seeing the line and learning that he was no longer there we decided to once again brave the green line back to Williamsburg where we ate reasonably priced Tai food at the fanciest restaurant ever. I think it was where they shot that scene in Garden State where he’s working at a restaurant.

On Thursday our apartment began a 24-hour electricity strike. Because the only windows in the apartment are in the two bedrooms, this made getting through the living room, kitchen, and bathroom quite an unwanted morning adventure. After realizing that it wouldn’t be back on until Friday morning and that my night of Downton Abbey and situps was not meant to be, I decided to cut my losses and go to Radagast in Williamsburg for German sausage and giant beers with some friends. First world problems are rough.

Last night I made hot chocolate with Baileys using the hot chocolate on a stick my aunt Sally made me. We’re pretty decadent.

I was walking back from getting dinner supplies and saw this little guy in the back of this empty car! None of the windows were cracked and no one was around. I really wanted to rescue him.
